Cookie Policy

This page explains what cookies SolarZA sets, what each one is for, and how to change your mind. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy and POPI Disclaimer.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Some are needed for the site to work at all, such as staying signed in. Others are optional and help us measure what is useful or show advertising.
1. Strictly necessary
These make the site function. They cannot be switched off, because without them you could not sign in or hold a session. They do not track you across other websites.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| solarza_owner_session | Keeps an installer signed in to their workspace. | 14 days |
| solarza_admin_session | Keeps an operator signed in to the admin dashboard. | Session |
| solarza_consent | Remembers that you have seen the cookie notice, so it stops showing. | 6 months |
2. Analytics
These tell us which guides, calculators and price pages people actually use, so we know what to improve.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics 4. Counts visits and shows which pages and guides are actually useful. | Up to 2 years |
| Google Tag Manager | Loads and manages our measurement tags. | Varies |
3. Advertising
Advertising pays for the free guides, load shedding schedules and price data on this site. Google may personalise the ads it shows based on your visits to this and other sites.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Serves the ads that fund the free guides, calculators and price data on this site. | Varies by cookie |
Google is our advertising partner. You can review and change your Google ad settings at My Ad Center.
Controlling cookies
On your first visit we show a short notice about cookies, and we remember for six months that you have seen it. Analytics and advertising cookies are set from your first page view.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and turn off personalised Google ads at My Ad Center. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the installer workspace from working.
Your rights under POPIA
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013, you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to processing. See the POPI Disclaimer for how to exercise those rights.
